The Rugby World Cup is keeping most people busy, but I’m taking the time to update Hunting Kiwis (ok, I may have one eye on the games!).
Before I tell you about a new section of the blog I want to take the time to thank all those who have donated to Hunting Kiwis over the past 12 months. A total of $460 has been collected to date and this is being donated to St John’s Church, Hororata, to help them rebuild following the 7.1 earthquake that badly damaged the building. Thank you all.
New this month is the start of a series of short posts about the symbols I’ve found on headstones in rural Canterbury cemeteries. To date, the headstones I’ve photographed have, in the main, been of modest design with simple decoration, but many do feature common symbols such as clasped and pointing hands, flowers, foliage and animals.
