Dear Readers,
What a fantastic Autumn we’ve had here in Canterbury, New Zealand – clear, blue skies and warm sun. Perfect weather for trotting around cemeteries.
This month I hav
e tackled a small cemetery in Christchurch that I have passed so many times and intended to stop, but never did. It’s the small cemetery attached to St James’ Anglican Church in Harewood, near the airport. Buried here are some of Christchurch’s earliest settlers including John and Mary Stanley who arrived from England on the ‘Randolph’ in December, 1850.
Unfortunately, the recent earthquakes have damaged a few of the headstones.

In other news, Hunting Kiwis is delighted that Inside History magazine has chosen to give our efforts a mention in their next issue (Issue 10) which will be in-store or in your post-box if you’re a subscriber in the next day or so.
Winter isn’t far away, so it’s time to get out the thermals. It’s a great season for photography, particularly in the morning and evening light. Hopefully the rain will hold and I can continue with Yaldhurst, Great Malvern and all the other locations that are still in progress.
