Springfield/Kowhai Pass Cemetery (St Peter’s Church) complete!

All gravestones at the Kowhai Pass cemetery, attached to St Peter’s Church in Springfield, have now been photographed and listed on Hunting Kiwis. There are over 250 headstones but, remember, many of those represent several family members. I would hazard a guess that near on 1,000 people are buried in this small, rural cemetery. Cust Cemetery (St James Anglican) complete!

Wow, what a gorgeous wee graveyard on a terrace looking across river plains toward Mt. Oxford and Mt. Richardson. I found gravestones with a few unusual surnames including McKIBBEN, WOLFF (with inscriptions written in German), FRIZZELL, BUNZ, and NANKIVELL.
