William Donald Mackintosh was born in 1877. He died 31st October, 1886 in a tragic accident and is buried, with his family, in Waddington Cemetery.
His father was James Mackintosh and his mother Charlotte, nee Robinson. Charlotte, born in 1848 in Co. Tyrone, Ireland, had a twin brother, Beriah Robinson.
The New Zealand death record for this incident spells William’s surname “McIntosh”, as does the following newspaper article. This is different to the spelling used on the gravestone.

James MackIntosh’s wife was Charlotte Robinson the twin sister of my great-grandfather Beriah Robinson (Jr) . I know very little about the MackIntosh family and hadn’t seen this article – thanks for publishing it. Do you know anything else about the family – where they lived etc?
Something I hadn’t thought about before, but I’m now wondering if Waddington was the link between my grandmother (Beriah’s daughter) and my grandfather who was a cousin of the Waddington Bulls???

Hi Murray,
Good to hear from you. Glad I could provide you with a bit of extra information 🙂
Have you seen the bio on James Mackintosh on NZTEC? http://www.nzetc.org/tm/scholarly/tei-Cyc03Cycl-t1-body1-d6-d29-d2.html
Best wishes
Helen
Many thanks!!!
I was sure that I had searched there, but not as far as Kirwee. Very interesting – the Robinsons were from Co Tyrone and I’ve often wondered how my my GGF (Charlotte’s twin) and GGM from Elgin near Inverness met. Maybe the MacKintoshes were a link there too!
